Typical Florentine Restaurant - IL DAVID - Piazza della Signoria a unique atmosphere. Piazza dell Signoria, the political heart of the city from the Middle age to now, is a real museum in the open; on the south facade, towards the Arno, lies the piazzale degli Uffizzi, and immediately on the side, the Loggia dei Lanzi (1376 – 1382), beneath whose archs, in late gothic style, 12 statues can be found. Amongst which the extraordinary Perseo by Benvenuto Cellini; at the center, the Palazzo della Signoria contributes to the magic of the Piazza.The Restaurant began it's activity in 1949 when Mr. Innocenti bought the building of Piazza Signoria n°2, even though some books and photographs show that the building was being used as a restaurant since 1880. Today the Restaurant is run by the daughter, Giovanna, who together with her husband Anzano Manzi , in respect of tradition, have contributed to the growth in prestige and popularity of the restaurant. The restaurant has space in the open, directly on the piazza, which makes it possible, in the summer, to dine on the outside, offering it's clients a unique atmospher. Tuscan tradition, like the “bistecca alla fiorentina”, the famous “trippa”, tasty dishes with “porcini” mushrooms and great and elaborate pizzas.
